ZABOT-B®
Monovalent Botulinum Type B Antitoxin
®ZABOT-B
Anti-botulism serum is a product derived from the plasma of horses hyperimmunized by antigens of different types of Clostridium botulinum. Botulism is a dangerous disease that occurs as a result of consuming contaminated food, wound contamination, or colonization of the intestines of newborns by Clostridium botulinum. This disease will quickly cause severe poisoning and death due to the botulinum toxin acting on the nervous system. There are eight different serotypes (A-H) of this bacterium, but most cases of poisoning are caused by botulinum toxin types A, B, and E. This product is prepared as monovalent type B.
Zabot-B® is supplied as a clear sterile solution in 10 ml vials as monovalent type B (5000 IU/Vial) for intramuscular or intravenous injection. This product uses f(ab΄)2 fragments of botulinum antitoxin as the active ingredient.
This product is used to treat or prevent poisoning with Clostridium botulinum type B toxin. Treatment of botulinum disease with antitoxin should be started quickly and without delay. In cases where poisoning with a specific type is diagnosed, the corresponding monovalent serum is prescribed, but if this is impossible, trivalent serum should be prescribed.
Botulinum antitoxin is the only way to treat botulism. This product has the following important advantages:
- Effective and safe treatment of all types of botulism poisoning
- Rapid and strong therapeutic effect
- High product quality at the level of international standards
